Parquet Cherry, Watford

This cherry floor had taken a bit of a beating in places!

It consisted of tongue and groove solid parquet blocks, and had last been finished with lacquer about twenty years previously.

As well as significant scratches, the lacquer had taken on a ‘bleached’ look in places where dust had collected.

What we did:

In one room we had to lift up and re-install the parquet blocks on the sides and corners.

We then sanded both the hallway and two rooms, filling any gaps between and in the blocks using filler blended with fine wood dust from the sanding, before finishing with clear hard wax oil.

Total time and people involved:

Two people, and three days including the oiling process.
